Digital Archives

Initiated by the Social Studies/Native Studies Department, the Digital Archives is a repository of photographs, maps, and other documents that pertain to the history and heritage of Manitoba. Collected from a variety of sources, the majority of the holdings document the building of the Hudson Bay Railway and other aspects of life in Frontier School Division communities. Copies of specific items are available on loan to FSD teachers, students, community members, and other "partners in learning" in Frontier School Division.

Hard copies of images, maps, and documents that have been scanned into the Digital Archives are managed by the Library Services Department. Copies of specific items are available on loan for up to four weeks at a time. To borrow, contact Library Services at (204) 775-9741.

We are currently in the process of making all archival materials available on this website. Please check it often for updates.

  • Check out our Photo Archive and see the Reference Guide, which includes a keyword index with thumbnail images that link to higher resolution versions.
  • Coming soon: A Document Archive featuring archival documents and contemporary transcripts (e.g. oral histories), as well as unique maps, many of which were created by FSD staff for community history projects.
