The above images show the famous aviator Charles Lindbergh and his wife Anne (Morrow) during their brief, overnight stopover in Churchill, Manitoba in July 1931. The Lindberghs were on their historic survey flight to Asia, the purpose of which was to find the best flight path for future commercial air travel from New York to Tokyo.

Charles Lindbergh's highly publicised transatlantic flight in 1927[1] must have generated a lot of excitement in the community when the couple landed in Churchill harbour. See charleslindbergh.com for more information and additional photographs, which document this historic moment of international importance.

[1] May 10th to 11th, 1927 Charles Lindbergh set a transcontinental record for his flight across the Atlantic ocean in his custom built plane, the "Spirit of St. Louis." To learn more about Charles Lindbergh and his many contributions to modern aviation, see charleslindbergh.com.
