Possible Diary Reference: “On guard with Turner, Ward and Corp. [C.] Spurgeon at chateau,” 2:15 Nov ’15. A. J. Turner may have been the Turner mentioned in Frank Whiting’s diary on 15 November 1915, but Pte. F. W. Turner, Reg. No. 51031, and Pte. Harris Turner, Reg. No. 441096, were other candidates. According to Hodder-Williams, 349, Pte. A. J. Turner was struck off strength to C.A.M.C. on 14 March 1916 and was subsequently attached again to the PPCLI.
