Ward, Beecher Owen, London, Ontario. Occupation: student. Military Service: Private, Reg. No. 411140, 1st University Co., PPCLI, Attestation Papers.Possible Diary Reference: “On guard with Turner, Ward and Corp. [C.] Spurgeon at chateau,” 2:15 Nov ’15. This identification is uncertain. Pte. B. O. Ward joined the PPCLI in the field on 28 July 1915, so he could have been on guard with Frank on November 15. However, Pte. A. J. Ward, Reg. No. 1526, Pte. F. Ward, Reg. No. 1761, and Pte. J. Ward, Reg. No. 1272, were other candidates, as they had been with the PPCLI since August 1914. Analysis of their individual personnel files could perhaps resolve the issue. According to Hodder-Williams, 355, Pte. B. O. Ward became a prisoner of war on 2 June 1916 and was repatriated in December 1918.
