Lloyd, Walter Harry, Cobden, Ontario, formerly of Birmingham, England. Occupation: Sign Writer. Military Service: Private, Reg. No. 213, PPCLI, Attestation Papers. Diary Reference: “Found [W.H.] Lloyd the other painter is leaving so will likely have it all to do.,” 3:11 Jul ’16. According to Hodder-Williams, 239, Pte. W. H. Lloyd served from August 1914 until he was struck off strength on 17 January 1919. He was probably the painter mentioned by Frank Whiting in July 1916, because sign painting was his pre-war occupation. Pte. S. Lloyd, Reg. No. 780, is a less likely possible candidate.
