Lloyd, Samuel, Ottawa, Ontario, originally of Warrington, Lancashire, England. Occupation: Stationary Engineer. Military Service: Private, Reg. No. 780, PPCLI. Attestation Papers. Possible, but unlikely, Diary Reference: “Found Lloyd the other painter is leaving so will likely have it all to do.,” 3:11 Jul ’16. According to Hodder-Williams, 238, Pte. S. Lloyd was wounded 16 January 1915 and struck off strength 24 April 1917. Although a possibility, Pte. S. Lloyd was probably not the painter referenced in Frank’s diary on 11 July 1916. A more likely candidate is Pte. W. H. Lloyd, Reg. No. 213.
