Mawdsley, James Buckland, enlisted at Montreal, Quebec, born at Bon Convento near Sienna, Tuscany, Italy. Occupation: engineering student. Military Service: Private, later Lieutenant, Reg. No. 411137, 1st University Co., PPCLI, Attestation Papers. Diary References: “Hooked up with [H.] Howard and [J. B.] Mawdsley,” 2:27 Oct ’15; “Jim Mawdsley was … the only casualty,” 2:29 Dec ’15. According to Hodder-Williams, Pte. J. B. Mawdsley was wounded 29 December 1915 and struck off strength 4 January 1916. He subsequently served as a lieutenant in the R.A.F.

Pte., later Lieut., James Buckland Mawdsley was an engineering student when he enlisted with the PPCLI in April 1915 at Montreal. He was 31 years of age at the time.
