Popey, William, enlisted at Ottawa, Ontario, originally from Rachbeath, Norfolk, England. Occupation: Teamster. Military Service: Private, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Reg. No. 1716, PPCLI. Attestation Papers. Diary Reference: “On guard all day. Ten casualties,” [see note: Popey slightly wounded], 2:21 Jan ’16. According to Hodder-Williams, 88, Lt. Popey was wounded 21 January 1916 and on 23 October 1918. He was struck off strength on 25 February 1919.
