Sydney Needes

Needes, Sydney, enlisted at Ottawa, Ontario, originally from Wellington, Somerset, England. Occupation: Carpenter. Military Service: Private, Reg. No. 526, PPCLI. Attestation Papers. Diary Reference: “Met an old pal named [S.] Needs [Needes]. He tried hard to arrange a meeting with Maj [J. H.] Lindsay, who is here wounded,” 2:30 Mar ’16. Frank must have become acquainted with Needes sometime between 1 September 1915, when Frank arrived in the field, and 8 November 1915, when Needes was struck off strength. Evidently, Needes had returned to England and was in London when Frank went there on leave in March 1916.
