Elliott, Andrew, enlisted in England, formerly of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, Northumberland, England. Occupation: Bridge Carpenter. Military Service: Private, Lance Corporal, Reg. No. 704, PPCLI. Attestation Papers. Diary Reference: “Heard that L/C. [Andrew] Elliot[t] of 8 Platoon was killed last night,” 3:10 [13] Aug ’16. According to Hodder-Williams, L/Cpl. Elliott was killed near Hooge on 12 August 1916.

Additional Biographical Information:

L/Cpl Andrew Elliott joined the PPCLI in 1914 at the age of 31 years. He survived the Battle of Sanctuary Wood only to be killed by “artillery shrapnel to the head and back” while on the frontline along the Menin Road. Newman, With the Patricia’s in Flanders, 100.
