The tour began in Toronto. I checked out of the hotel and left for the airport at 1:00 p.m. It would have been a long (seven hour) wait for the flight to Paris, except for Marlo Wales, another tour participant, whom I had the good fortune to meet right after entering the terminal. Time slipped by as we became better acquainted and shared our hopes for the tour. Conversation was broken only once by a man with an unusual walking stick - an Anglican clergyman going to a Jane Austin Conference outside of London and a WW1 and WW2 re-enactor to boot! Five minutes, the right questions, and we are all connected. At 4:00 p.m., we checked in and proceeded to Gate 175, meeting Dan Steeves, another participant, along the way. Eventually, the rest of the tour arrived, and we introduced ourselves to each other. Shortly before 8:00 p.m., the call came to board AC880, and we were off to Paris!
