Miss Turpin

Turpin, Miss. Matron, Girls’ Residence, Main Floor.

Miss Turpin became superintendent of the girls’ residence at M.A.C. in the fall of 1913. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, she received her public school education in Toronto and after attending Miss Veal’s private school spent some months in England and later a year and a half in Western Canada. She resumed her studies at the Macdonald Institute and graduated in the spring of 1913 with first class honors in the professional housekeeper’s course. During her studies, she was chosen May Queen of the annual May Day Festival at the Ontario Agricultural College and was elected House President in her senior year.

Complete, when I find more info on her in the gazette.

The qualifications and personality lying behind these distinctions alone, combined with thorough knowledge of the duties incident to her position assure Miss Turpin a large place in the hearts of those among whom she is to work.” (The M.A.C. Gazette, v. VII, no. 1 (Oct. 1913), p. 3e)
