Jones, George H., B.S.A., Assistant (1913) to Prof. Bedford in the work of Manitoba’s Demonstration Farms. not to be confused with E. Ward Jones.
A native of Carman, Manitoba, where he obtained his elementary education, Mr. Jones attended M.A.C. and graduated in 1913. He was an “all-round” college man, who won recognition for his prowess as a boxer and wrestler, as well as for stock judging. He served on M.A.C.’s team at the Chicago International Stock Show in 1911, where his performance was outstanding. “Besides capturing first place in the horse judging competition open to the teams from eleven competing colleges, he won first in placing for the entire competition, and second for placing and giving reasons.” After graduation, he was in charge of Demonstration Farms for the province working under the Deputy Minister of Agriculture. This work entailed travel on the C.N.R. Special Demonstration train and lectures at points around the province.
