Jones-Brewer, Mrs. Winnifred, Visiting Violin Teacher, 1914-1915
According to the M.A.C. Gazette, “Mrs. Winnifred Jones-Brewer is a popular violinist in Winnipeg. She is a pupil of Herr Otto Peiniger (who was a pupil of Dr. Joachim), L.B. Prout and Mr. Wooding Starmer in London, England. In London she was associated with many of the leading musicians, and played before Princess Henry of Battenberg and the late Duke and Duchess of Teck, being complimented on her fine tone. Her violin is a rare one, an exact copy of the one used by Ole Bull. Mrs. Brewer has also composed some charming songs and violin pieces, two of which she played at the recital given by the Faculty of Music. Mrs. Brewer is our visiting violin teacher, and will, we feel sure, produce good results here, as she has assuredly done in the city.
