Clement Butler Neale

Neale, Clement Butler, enlisted in Montreal Quebec, originally of Gloucestershire, England. Occupation: clerk. Military Service, Private, Reg. No. 475289, 4th University Co., PPCLI, Attestation Papers. Possible Diary References: “Neil [Neale] had his arm “slapped” by a passing shell,” 2:3 Jun ’16.This is the only reference in Frank’s diary that could apply to Pte. Neale, as the 4th University Co., did not start arriving in the field until March 1916. Hodder-Williams, 279, listed G. Neale, Sergeant, Reg. No. 1784, but not Pte. C. B. Neale. Perhaps this man did not transfer to the PPCLI.
