No. 475950, 3rd University Co., PPCLI, Attestation Papers. Possible Diary Reference: “Murray and I in one small dugout. On fatigue every night up to the front line,” 2:11 May ’16. This may be the soldier Frank mentioned on May 11. The other possibility was Herbert Mayne Murray. According to Hodder-Williams, 277, Pte. A. D. Murray was wounded on 15 September 1916 and struck off strength on 21 September 1916. He subsequently served as a lieutenant in the British Expeditionary Force.
