Diary References: “one stripe, Johns [Jones?] two and Finlayson (wounded) one,” 3:17 Jun ’16; “Finlayson slightly wounded … Walked down and guided back a small party including Finlayson from front line,” 3:27 Jun ’16. According to Hodder-Williams, 173, Pte. J. K. Finlayson was wounded 29 June 1916 and struck off strength 1 July 1916. Subsequently, he became a lieutenant elsewhere in the Canadian Expeditionary Force.
