Clarke, Dameral Aubrey, of Airdrie, Alberta, originally of Georgetown, British Guinea. Medals/Honours: Military Cross (MC), twice Mentioned in Dispatches (MID). Occupation: Rancher. Military Service: Sergeant, Lieutenant, Major, Reg. No. 1763, PPCLI, Attestation Papers. Diary Reference: “So I went up to Capt. [D. A.] Clarke and told him I had done a little mechanical drawing and thought possibly I could manage the job. He then told [C.] Spurg. to hand my name into orderly office and see what they said about it, so am at present waiting to know if I go back to the trenches again with the boys or not,” 3:8 Jul ’16. According to Hodder-Williams, 75, Major Clarke was struck off strength on 25 May 1917 to command P.P.C.L.I Reserve Depot, Seaford.
