Doherty, Walter Michael. Military Service: Private, North Nova Scotia Highlanders, served in Normandy. Reg. No. F/40898. Shot in the head on 8 June 1944 at the Abbaye d’Ardenne, by order of SS Colonel Kurt Meyer, Commander, 25th Panzer Grenadier Regiment, 12th SS Division, “Hitler Youth”.
